La Mouline... nestling in the beautiful Vindrac valley, was once a small working mill. Powered by the stream, it produced flour and baked bread for the local community in it’s wood fired oven. When we bought the property it was derelict, unloved and had been abandoned for 28 years. With only enough electricity for a few light bulbs, no mains water or sanitation, we still fell in love with it and were mad enough to buy.

That was 1991 - now we have a big kitchen, lounge, dining room, TV and music room with piano, study, laundry room, four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a wet room. Outside there are two terraces, one covered, table tennis and a heated 12 x 6 metre swimming pool.

La Mouline’s location helped us decide to live here. Only ten minutes drive away is the spectacular medieval hilltop town of Cordes, with quaint narrow streets and artisans’ shops. Everyday shopping is just a five minute drive or even a bike ride. Albi, a small city with a rose red Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace, also home to the Toulouse Lautrec Museum, is 30 minutes away. Toulouse, a vibrant city, is within an hours drive.

The beautiful forest of Gresigne is close by and is a great place to walk, gather mushrooms, hunt for truffles and explore.The area is a large wine producer and there are many local chateaux offering wine tasting. The closest one, not far from the end of our lane, has won many medals for rosés and reds. There is also an excellent choice of restaurants, ranging from simple country cooking to cordon bleu. Other activities available locally include golf, tennis, fishing, canoeing, cycling and horse riding.
